Roustabout Art - Sarah-Jane Cook
I come from a very loud, large, multicultural, creative family full of artists, crafters, musicians and dancers. I grew up in the Adelaide Hills on a 13acre property with kangaroos hopping about and the bush on my doorstep. I was always encouraged to create and make things. I am currently working on three different ceramic ranges of functional homewares. The Maureen Margaret Alice Range incorporates crochet, vintage colour and ceramics and is named after, and inspired by my Nanna. The Cloud and Swallow Range is brightly coloured and includes designs using a technique called 'scrafitto' and is inspired by Greek and Turkish ceramics and my Greek heritage. The Live.Grow.Thrive range are wheel thrown planters in bright colours with inspirational and humorous text to promote mental and physical well being. A roustabout is someone on a farm that does a bit of everything and so Roustabout Art pretty much sums me up: a bit of everything Arty. |
