Chris Birch
Chris Birch is a ceramicist operating as Clay Pigeon Pottery at Aldinga Beach where she has a house and studio on a large block of land between the Aldinga Scrub and the sea. She is inspired and influenced by the natural environment in which she lives and works and this is reflected in the earthy tones of her pottery. After a 35-year interest in pottery working in earthenware, stoneware and porcelain clays and firing in reduction and oxidised atmospheres Chris is currently producing wheel-thrown functional pottery. She uses terra cotta clay and makes her own glazes from raw ingredients to produce a harmonising blend of brown, blue and green domestic ware. The range of pots that Chris makes is intended for everyday use because she likes seeing her work used and enjoyed. |
